Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker and syndicated columnist. She is also an TV personality, author and author. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran later left the company. One of the show's first "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank to date. Corcoran has signed 53 deals until February of 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her investment of $350,000 in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran is the second child of 10 from a family of Irish Catholics who worked hard, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey.  Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. Her father was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran’s life. The family relied sometimes on the free food delivery from a friendly local supermarket. Corcoran recalls her father, a man who sometimes drank too much, and treated her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, especially after he'd consumed several drinks. Corcoran was a struggling student in school. Corcoran later found out that she was dyslexic. Corcoran entered high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her time at a Catholic primary school. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year before transferring to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
